Amy Meredith – Young At Heart (Angger Dimas Remix)

8 Apr

Just like Gianni Marino, I’m going to state that Angger Dimas, a 22 year old kid from Jakarta, Indonesia, is going to be the next big thing in the house music scene.  I know I haven’t talked about him before, but this kid’s tracks are extremely high quality. If you didn’t know, Dimas, just like Gianni Marino, Afrojack, Avicii, Chuckie, Tocadisco, and Steve Angello, came from Laidback Luke’s Forum. (Starting to get the picture here?)

Here’s how Dimas’ facebook page describes his style:

“Angger Dimas represents Indonesia’s national music dish with his mash up of chopped beats and pumping synths that are topped off with some Dutch inspired spicy sounds!”

Angger has quietly been making moves in the EDM world, remixing tracks by artists such as Kaskade and Laidback Luke. Finally, he’s reached the mark that many young producers would die for: Remixing a track for Tiesto’s brand new album, Club Life Volume One- Las Vegas. “Young at Heart”, is a sure-fire dance floor killer. It has the bleepy, tuff style of Angger Dimas along with the awesome vocals of Amy Meredith. Give the track a shot, and make sure you become a fan of Angger on Facebook!

Skrillex – Reptile’s Theme

7 Apr

AWESOME new track by Skrillex, called “Reptile’s Theme”. This track is off the new Mortal Kombat 9 soundtrack, which features some other electro heavy hitters, like Congorock, Wolfgang Gartner, LA Riots, and MSTRKRFT. You know the electronic music apocalypse is coming when videogames start getting heavily influenced by electronic music. What’s not to love? As someone who is not the biggest fan of dubstep, I fully give this track my approval.

Axwell – Heart is King

4 Apr

IT HAS ARRIVED. After 2 years of teasing his fans, progressive house deity Axwell has released one of his best tracks, “Heart is King’. This is his first release since “Nothing but Love”, which was released last summer. But, in classic Axwell fashion, it does not disappoint. When you listen to the track from start to finish, you realize how complex of a sound he has, from the selection of the synths and percussion instruments he uses, all the way to the various genres of music that have influenced his melodies. Personally, this is my favorite Axwell tune. It has that festival, sort of commercial feel to it, but at the same time I can’t help but tap my feet to the beat of the track. Grab a hold of this track ASAP. Listen and enjoy!

Japanese Popstars – Song For Lisa (Benny Benassi Remix)

4 Mar

I think it’s safe to say that Benny Benassi has been off the mark for the past 2 years. People can make an argument that his track, ‘Spaceship’, was a great track, but it was ‘good’ at best. He was pretty much riding the massive wave of stardom that came from his monster hit, ‘Satisfaction’. Nevertheless, I think he’s beginning to make a comeback. The first hint is that Laidback Luke recently remixed his track, ‘Cinema’ (note: Future banger!) Second, the remix Benny did for the Japanese Popstars’ track, ‘Song for Lisa’ is absolutely phenomenal. It seems that Benny is starting to form a new “sound,” moving away from his hard-hitting electro-synths, to a little more of a progressive sound, but still having those synths around. Finally, a Benny Benassi track that is NOT “so-obnoxious-that-you-can-only-play-it-at-huge-festivals”. Have a listen, and you’ll find this track much more pleasing than his old tracks. Plus, the vocals are killer. Enjoy!

Edit: The song was leaked a while back (sep 2010) but it’s still great!

Nouveau Yorican – Chiuso (Chocolate Puma and Gianni Marino Remixes)

2 Mar

Nouveau Yorican is composed of the brilliant and wacky minds of Laidback Luke and Gina Turner. Gina’s electic, off-the-cusp style of music combined with Luke’s heavily drum-and-bass influenced music form a strange, yet awesome foot-tapping track. At first, you really don’t know how to react to this track. But, put it on repeat a few times and you begin to love it. As a bonus, the track sounds MUCH better when played on a loud speaker system (like Pacha NYC’s speakers). Anyways, although the track has been out for a couple of months, the remixes to this track aren’t available anywhere. Chocolate Puma, who are Laidback Luke’s mentors, and Gianni Marino, who is LBL’s new protege, came up with awesome remixes to this track. I’m loving the sound of the latin drums and guitars. Enjoy!

p.s. I know I keep saying this, but jump on the Gianni Marino bandwagon ASAP. This guy’s about to blow up faster than Antoine Dodson from the ‘Bed Intruder‘ video.

Armin Van Buuren feat. Laura V – Drowning (Avicii Remix)

26 Feb

I’m going make a bold statement. This is one of the BEST remixes/tracks I’ve ever heard in my life (better than SHM’s ‘One’). The track was leaked months ago through youtube videos of Avicii’s live performances, and people have been clamoring for it ever since. Avicii had the courage to remix a song by the # 1 DJ in the world, Armin van Buuren. Thank God, because the original was mediocre at best.

A few weeks ago, I gave you my top 5 Avicii tracks, and put ‘Drowning’ at #2 on that list. I must have not been thinking, because this track is by far his best work. Avicii is on another level right now, delivering to us some of the most original, feet-tapping, hands-in-the-air songs out there. The melodies and chord progression in this song are so detailed and well-organized that you would never expect a 21 year old to come up with such a great track. And, even better? He has more tracks still due to be released. So, without further ado, I present to you, ‘Drowning’. Enjoy!

Stars Align Tomorrow – Kaskade Mash Up

21 Feb

West coast native Kaskade is giving away a mashup of Dimitri Vegas, Like Mike & Dada Life’s, “Tomorrow”, with the vocals of Marcus Bently from his own track, “Stars Align”. As I listen to this track over and over, I can’t help but think of all of the good memories I had from last summer. Overall, an awesome, fun track. This is what Kaskade had to say about the track:

“I made this little tool/mash up last year. The original version of “Stars Align” is still one of my faves but this thing works really well on the floor. Have a good week!”

If you’re a sucker for piano chords (Think ‘Leave The World Behind’), this track is definitely for you. It’s the type of soul-warming chords that makes you realize why you fell in love with House Music in the first place. For all DJ’s, this track is invaluable; if Kaskade says this track works well on the dance floor, you shouldn’t think twice about incorporating this into your sets. Did I mention it’s FREE? Enjoy!
